Not quite the focus or intensity of his 99 or 97 SS but still has the genes. Lovely cherry, cassis, and blackberry flavors wound around a nice core of soft tannins. Good depth of flavors and should hold another 5-8 with no problem. Was a casuality of the bad raps on the 2000s'. Closed out, for which I'm grateful. A blenf of Cab,malbec, cab franc, and petitie verdot. No numbers. 90/93 30 per. 14.1% alc. WW

Opened another for lunch yesterday. Nose had really improved. Besides the fruit there's a nice graphite note and more leather than before. All hit the palate swimmingly. Will hold another 6-10 easily. One of the stars of this uneven vintage Kick the hummer up to a 91. WW

Rooting around the cellar and saw this so out another came. Drank whilst watching the last episode of Monk! Can't say a whale of a lot more than my last post except to say that Dick besides being a nice person is one heck of a wine-maker. Loved his juice since the early Ch. St. Jean days. No change in scoring. WW

My two favorite wines of his were the 81 Ch St Jean Robert Young Chard and the 91 Arrowood Merlot. Liked an awful lot of Dick's wines, but those were the two faves.

Whenced I still drunked them SWs' I bought all of his St. Jean chards and the best SW I ever had the pleasurable of drinking was the 78 Bob Young. Eventually ended up buying 4 boxes. Also bought the Bob Young Reisling. If I remember rightously he also made a number of other fine chards from Gauer Ranch, McRae vineyards and a generic Sonoma appellation. WW

This lil' darlin' was the featured bottle while watching them Durchies kick the Brazies patooties. Has evolved since the last bottle and can assure enny of youses' that gots this hummer under lock&key that you're a lucky sucker. Can still shed some soft tannins but don't put it off as it be drinking killer! WW
