Paid $14.25 for a small pour of this at Palomino Restaurant in Charlotte. Light nut-brown color, viscous. Nose of nuts, orange zest? dried apricots? (Not sure if I'm reaching in trying to identify the fruit odors) Flavor of roasted pecans or walnuts, figs, cooked brown sugar. Warms the mouth but doesn't burn. Tastes somewhat sweet. Perhaps better than I expected. Would have paired nicely with the vanilla creme brulee or possibly the warm fudge cake with vanilla bean ice cream and Gittaud (sp?) chocolate sauce but I had no room left for dessert. I couldn't finish my lamb entree after having a bruschetta appetizer (with goat cheese, herbs, roasted red peppers and smoked salmon).
This was a very nice Port.

Agreed -- just not worth the price differential between it and the 20 y/o Tawny.

I'm with you. Sometimes perfectly happy with a 10-year tawny although it's fun to try the older bottlings.

I hear you. Niepoort makes one of the best, if not the best 10 y/o.

I've found the 20's just the ticket. A good step up from the 10, and not a wallet thinner like most of the 30's.
