OK, please pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between a Port and a Tawny Port?

Thanks

They are blended ports which are aged for extended periods of time in wood. They lighten in color and develop a more gentle flavor than their vintage counterparts. These ports, described as "tawny" and sometimes referred to as "wood-aged," are smoother and lighter. The best tawnies, aged 10 to 40 years, command pretty impressive prices. Another point is that Tawny Port can be made from different grape varieties of different vintages, whereas Vintage Port comes only from the vintage year.
