Fino En Rama 2002, Alvear 100% pedro ximenez.

Bottle states this is unblended and unfiltered. The bottle also states this is the first ever made "single vinyard" Fino in modern history.

Note:
It's like I'm smelling The dirt under a patch of moss. A little bit of nut....walnut to be exact. And still from the nose, the tiniest hint of fruit but I can't detect what type of fruit. Interestingly enough, there's some of that walnut on the palate. There is also some black cherry mixed with a touch of apple (red apple) but the palate really is taken over by the walnut flavor. The finish lightens up immediately, but stays with you for awhile. That might be the alcohol(15%). This is bone-dry. What a great nose; I could sit with my nose in the glass all day.

I wouldn't even begin to know how to score this wine. I've tasted many sherries, and finos in particular. This one is different from any other. I will be buying more of this if I can find it. I have to....it's that good.
