Let's talk about Porto

I am a big port collector and wanted to see what the Wine Board has got to say about different ports and how they are drinking. I'll start with the '77 Grahams Vintage Port. Found two magnums in the cellar behind a couple burgundy cases. Cracked one open and man it is drinking steady but still a little tight. I'll have another glass tonight after some Thai food and repost notes.

I love port. In fact it was one of my earlier wine experiences. Tawnies came first and then the vintage stuff. Spent some time in the Douro region a few years ago and went to Porto to the port houses across the river. Very impressive!!

I've not had a lot of fine port (just the fairly affordable bunch of nv ruby, tawny, and the occasional lbv).
I'm a bigger fan of Madeira, particularly Bual. I'd love to hear notes if you have any recorded for these guys...

1970 Taylor's is drinking wonderfully right now. One of my favorites.

Had a glass of 03 Vintage Delaforce and Sandeman 20 year today after a lamb chop dinner at Flemings. Drank them side by side. The Delaforce is drinking incredible. Still can't find a port better than Graham's. Tried a lesser known called Quinto de Visuvio... jammy, ripe, hints of anise, slight pepper, and some earthy tones. Not bad for a lesser known.
