Mas Amiel Maury 10 Year Cuvee Speciale ($21.99 Belfast Coop). First reported on this wine about six months ago. Uncorked one tonight with cheese and all were superb. Lush, lush fruit with seamless fortification. Not as nutty as Port but wonderful it it's own right.

Matched with a couple of interesting cheeses that we picked up at the Portland Market on the way home today. Expected the names to on the receipt, but they were not. Both were Dutch. One had the consistancy of an aged Gouda, and had cumin seeds in it. The other was a "Swiss" type Dutch cheese, but it was almost as hard as a Parmesan. Both married very nicely with the Maury.

After having our principal meal at the "Uno" in Bangor today; washing it down with Rosemount Shiraz (the closest thing to a red Italian in the place; for which we took them to task again), we finished the bottle of Maury tonight.

Matched it with Irish Vintage Cheddar and Spanish Drunken Goat cheeses. Very, very nice.
