1999 Tobin James, Commemortive, Paso Robles, Zinfandel ($38; Bottle #3704 of 4200). Lance poured this for us from an open bottle (don't know what #) last February, and we loved it then. This one came in the Spring '02 Shipment. It is just about as big as it gets; $15.2% alcohol. Because of it's complexity (six or eight different notable PR vineyards) it wasn't even warm, much less hot. Did decant it two hours in advance. Nicely balanced flavors with plenty of spice, and my kind of tannin. Bells and whistles on the finish. We did have to share it with our son-in-law.

Matched delightfully with roast turkey, cornbread and chestnut stuffing, candied sweet potatoes, cranberry jelly, peas & pearl onions, potato and herb rolls, gobs of gravy, and pumpkin pie.
