2003 Elyse Morisoli Vineyard Zindfandel, Napa Valley

Purchased this on football weekend in Winston-Salem. I had been wanting to try this particular zin. 15.2% alcohol

Dense dark purple color. Quite viscous. Slightly prunish flavors with some violets on the nose. Still unresolved tannins along with heavy coating of dark ripe fruits. Might peak in 2009 or 2010? Drinkable now but may integrate more down the line.
Decant beforehand or cellar for a couple years.

I bought several wines that day and didn't keep track of the price but I see that it normally retails in $25-$35 range. 2005 vintage currently offered from the winery is priced at $37--rather high for Zinfandel, but it also states on the website that it is old vine Zin from the Rutherford Bench and a field blend.

Always one of my familys favorites. We always bought by the case, but haven't picked up the 04. The 00 was the absolute best with the 03,01,and the 02 all excellent in that order.
