1998 Gallo of Sonoma, Zinfandel, Frei Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley, California, $19, 5,500 cases. Classic Zinfandel aromas pair with jammy raspberry fruit, a kiss of black pepper and mixed oak flavors. Full-bodied, with moderate chewy tannins that need time to soften. 87/87.
