2005 Easton, Amador County, Zinfandel ($14 Winery). Tech data: alcohol 14.5%, pH 3.55, and acid 6.5 grams/ltr.

Despite Mark's prognostications about the '05s, this one was spot on; neither lean nor overblown. Gives you blackberries and black cherries on the nose and upfront. Another half ton of fruit and spice lend to the complexity in the middle. It is well balanced and smooth as silk, and the finish lingers.

We matched it with loin ends Teriyaki, brown Basmati rice, and sliced Brandywine tomatoes.

A very nice Wednesday night; and a terrific value in a Zin. Don't fear this '05!

I don't know if "prognostication" is the right word, IK. I didn't predict or forecast or prognosticate this vintage for zins. I tasted, and gave my findings.

However, as I said in the other thread, I'm unfamiliar with Amador County wines. I'm glad this one works for you.

I thought you gave us a heads up of all '05 CA Zins Mark, and this would be a prognostication in my book. Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers.

My feathers aren't ruffled.

If I would have looked at the weather in 2005 or even tasted some of the grapes and then said "2005 is an unripe vintage for Zins; its not the best vintage to buy", that would be a prognostication. I didn't do that. I tasted the already bottled version and came up with my conclusion. I'm simply stating your word choice is incorrect.
