1999 Peachy Canyon, Benito Dusi, Paso Robles, California, $26, 874 cases. Dark ruby with raspberry and bing cherry aromas and flavors. Black pepper and light vanilla nuances round out this nicely balanced wine. 89/88.

1999 Peachy Canyon, Estate, Paso Robles, California, $30, 943 cases. This is your big boy. The big jammy nose is followed by intense fruit on the palate in a full-blown package of red fruit, pepper and vanilla. Not for the faint of heart. 92/90.

1999 Peachy Canyon, Mustang Springs, Paso Robles, California, $26, 246 cases. An interesting wine with layers of raspberry and blueberry aromas. The flavors are intense and lush, with almond nuances, crisp acidity and supple tannins. 91/90.

1999 Peachy Canyon, Paso Robles, California, $15, 3,702 cases. This dandy value is loaded with raspberry and strawberry scents. Light to medium-bodied, you’ll find juicy red fruit, a streak of pepper, finishing long and crisp. 88/91.

1999 Peachy Canyon, Westside, Paso Robles, California, $19, 4,268 cases. Dark in the glass, the wine is full of black cherry aromas and flavors. Moderate tannins are braced by a brisk finish. 89/89.

The first three sound really interesting.

However, knowing this wine starved region I'll bet that only the last two will be available here in Virginny.

Just got back from there last night, and I heard that's about the last Benito Dusi you'll be seeing from PC. Seems Doug Beckett got a bit heavy handed in his demands about vineyard management and the price he was going to pay. So, Dusi said no thanks and is selling elsewhere.

One of the great Zins in my entire experience was the 78 Mastantuano Dusi. Ties with the 77 Lytton Springs As the top zin I've drunked. WW
