Hi Lar, and welcome to the wine board. In a word, sweet. Just like you need acidic wine with acidic food, you need sweet wine with sweet food. Next you need examine the specific desserts to determine which sweet wine. Chocolate calls for sweet red wine, such as Port or the Banyuls from the South of France. Port is a fortified wine, and Banyuls is a table wine. For lighter desserts such as the fruit tart you may want to go with a white dessert, and these are the most common. Our favorite right now is Bonny Doon Vineyard, Muscat, Vin De Glaciere. As far as which to have with the key lime pie, it's a toss up.
