Hi everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. Quick query: I purchased a 1995 Montevina Amador Zin this evening pretty cheap. It was in a bin with a bunch of 2000's on sale. Anyways, I'm not really familiar with the wine and wondered if anyone had any experience with or comments on this bottle. Recently, for Zins, I've ben drinking some Bogle, and Ravenswood Napa. How will this Montevina stack againt those?

Thanks,

Hatter

Montevina Zins are generally quite good. If you bought a 1995, I can understand why it was on sale. Eight years is pushing the envelope for that wine. Drink it very soon.

hi hatter, and welcome to the board. i'm with KC on this one. the montevina zins i've had are of the jammy, fruity variety, not powerful and spicy. and they are good bargains. but i'd be willing to bet this 95 is over the hill or close to it. a couple of 95 value cabs i've picked up in the past six months or so, including a villa mt. eden, were way past their prime. after one sip of each, i poured the rest down the drain. boy, do i hate to do that!
