(correction: It's Story Vineyards) Bought on futures for $15-$20 after tasting out of the barrel. This was a lovely, lovely zin. I don't remember the alc, but I bet it's 14 max.
Bright and lively, full of blackberry and fresh plums. Joyous wine.

Story is in Amador Cty, and if I recall correctly, Picnic Hill was planted somewhere about 100 years ago. Story's Zins are usually in the 16% to 17% range, but the wonderful fruit masks the alc well.

This was 15%, and KC is spot on. I tend to like lower alcohol wines, but this was fabulous. I've had two bottles in the last week and loved each. It's in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I LOVED Amador when I visited.

Some of the greatest zins I've ever experienced outside of Ridges' were from Amador. The county was the catalyst for getting Sutter Home in the wine(Zin) biz. WW
