Merlot

I recently experienced the 97 Merlot from Columbia Crest and i found this to a very smooth wine with a long finish to it. I particulary enjoyed the chocolate flavours that were very evident. I have now discovered that this vintage is no longer available and if anyone knew of a wine with similiar characteristics i would be delighted to hear of it.

If you are talking the Grand Estates series rather than the Columbia Valley series, the '98 Cabernet Sauvignon's are excellent. Have heard similiar reports on the merlot and the chardonnay. We found the chardonnay a little oaky, and have not tried the merlot.
