I want to know what is the most internationally recognized wine classification? And how did it originate and how does it work?

Hi Tigger, and welcome to the Wine Board. Since you are on the merlot thread, I guess that is what you are talking about. The most well known wines that are predominantly made of merlot are the Bordeaux Wines from the East Bank of the Garonne river. The two best known districts are Pomerol and Saint Emilion. The single best known producer is Chateau Petrus in Pomerol.

IK, sounds to me like an assignment seeking answers to the 18xx classifications. But I could be wrong.
