Found this orphan and 2 siblings in the cellar. Grapes from the Summit Ranch high on Spring Mountain this is atypical of Calif Merlot. Still deep ruby with only a hint of orange on the rim. Lots of lovely floral, spice, and brite red fruit notes on the nose. On the palate, the fruit came across as more cassis-jammy like. Soft entry medium center and an almost solid 4-lapper finish. No perceptible tannis so the other 2 will get immediate attention. 88/90 25 by the box. 13% alc. WW

Y'know, one of these days I'm flying out to America, hunting down Winoweenies Pondarosa and helping him "prune" his cellar. I'll even bring the cheese and crackers.

You're invited anytime Skeets. Seems that the more I look in the cellar the more orphans I discover.(Much to BigRedWines delight). WW

I think WW's would be a dandy place for the offline 2006. We could help him clean out the cellar.

If this is true I may just wet myself. If there weren't already enough reasons to go to Wash, preping WW for my visit just put me right over the edge.

Great, he takes me seriously, and I'm 16, 000km west of his cellar. Make it in January '06, and I might be able to divert to Chigo for http://www.b-fest.com en route.

Sorry BRW but, unfortunately, we had a funeral (Granddaughters Hubbys' Grandpa) and I took both my eldest daughter, who is visiting my middle, who is recovering from thyroid surgery to lunch at Basis. (Sounds like the next 14 episods of " As the World Shifts"). I'll call Mon. WW
