2002 Fall Creek Merlot

From Fall Creek Vineyards near Tow in the Texas Hill Country. Bright ruby in the glass, a nose of lush fruit; solid entry, a Bordeaux-style center (can imagine the rocky soil), and a moderate finish. A gift last year so price is uncertain, suspect about $10. Alcohol is 13.5%. The best Texas Merlot I've had.

She said we'd have barbecue sandwiches for supper, so I assumed BEEF. Wrong. Chicken instead, but the wine paired very nicely.
