Central Coast, Sonoma. Nice one. Deep purple color, alcohol on the nose, but very balanced, lots of berry flavors, some tart cherries, a bit of leather and tobacco, finishing with a hint of oak.

Reminds me a bit of an inexpensive Bordeaux. About $13. 92 BK points.

Sorry, the company is the Sonoma wine company, or maybe that's an affiliation or something like that. Obviously I need to go back and look at the fine print again!

The Central Coast is neither in Napa nor Sonoma.

And Bronco lost its appeal to a ruling against using the name Napa Ridge when it is not produced in Napa...geez...

Glen Ellen is not produced in Glen Ellen, Sonoma Creek Wines are not produced in Sonoma County and Healdsburg Vineyards is not located in Healdsburg...geez again...

Right. Vinted and Bottled BY, the old meaningless phrase.

It really means they sourced the wine, likely had nothing to do with fermenting it. And it's not Sterling Vineyards but Sterling Vintners.

Thirteen bucks for a boiler maker wine with a stolen name. There is a sea of great red wine out there for less made by people who actually grow and ferment their own wine.

A friend told me this was one of his favorites, so I got a bottle to split with him. $12.00 at Krogers. 13.5% 2004

Dark purple, nearly opaque. Nose of blackcherry slightly candied with a light earthiness. Dark fruit, black/blue berry followed by a drying tannin on the tongue and upper palate. The finish left a bit of greenish tannin on the back with the fruit remaining up front. Flavors are fairly simple with a light smoothness to the feel.
