2002 Paringa Merlot (Australia)

Really delicious stuff! Rich, regal opaque black/purple. It's all chocolate on the nose with a hint of mint and expresso. Flavors of ripe plum and dark berry, milk chocolate, expresso and tobacco. No oak detected. Good acidity and coarse tannins on the linguring finish. New world, of course, but has some complexity. Best effort to date from this producer, IMHO. Got to be the social event wine of the year. 14%Alc/vol. $10
