This was the wine I selected for a family dinner in Sanibel and the "early" celebration for my birthday (I was not going to be with family members on my actual birthday eleven days later). We were at Jacaranda Restaurant on Periwinkle Way and everyone ordered some type of grouper except for my nephew who had salmon. The Selaks was 12.5% alcohol. I didn't take notes at the table but it was crisp and attractive with sharp acidity without puckering or cat's pee. It matched well with my salad with Ranch dressing and the other salads with vinaigrette and crabmeat stuffed grouper, baked, with lobster cognac sauce and rice pilaf. The key lime pie at Jacaranda was also superb--it had coconut in the crust and was just yummy. (My mother, sister and I also tried key lime pie dipped in chocolate on a stick--very messy and no popsicle stick could hold all this frozen concoction for long. I upwrapped my treat from the wrong end and it landed squish on the sidewalk. Fortunately my mother and sister were generous enough to share part of their key lime on a stick with me.) We also enjoyed two dinners at Thistle Lodge (we were staying at Casa Ybel) and dinner at Mucky Duck (English-style pub) on Captiva after a dolphin-watching cruise.
I took a bottle of Henry's Drive Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (2000 or 2001), Padthaway, Australia, along for drinking with cheddar cheese in our rooms and it was a big hit with my sister and brother-in-law.
