Popped this tonight and the aromas leapt from the bottle. Nose of sweet blackberry and mixed dark fruits. Flavors of blackberry, tar, tobacco, vanilla and a little cinnamon?
What a good wine for $8...I still have several 750's and magnums: D

I've been drinking a few of them myself this summer.

Very nice wine, indeed!

That actually sounds good. As a novice I'm slowly educating myself to the differnt varieties and producers. I like Rosemount alot and have enjoyed the Grenache-Shiraz and there Merlot. I will look for this on my next purchase.

You probably won't find the '98. I believe the '00 is out now. If I remember correctly, (i think I had a bottle or two) its pretty good this year. I've been hearin' rumors that aussie 00 is supposed to be a good year. Rosemount at the low price end is almost always a good buy.

I found the 2000 Rosemount Diamond Shiraz at the grocery store. I was impressed with the wine at my first tasting of it.
13.5% alcohol, deep ruby to purple color
Hit by fruit and spice on the nose. On the palate after some thought I was reminded of dark-skinned grapes, prune and cloves. (The prune comment is not a putdown--I like prunes now and then). While not too tannic to be drinkable, the wine seemed to have some body and noticeable alcohol. A long finish. I would rate 17 or 18 on the Davis 20-point scale and 87-90 on the 100-point scale. Encouraged by this sampling I will look for the Rosemount Shiraz-Grenache.

Had some of the G-S tonight with chees(z)eburgers. It could not have been better. Maybe the third day with my oldest grandkids had something to do with it.
