1999 Brancott Vineyards (A.K.A. Montana), Marlborough, Reserve Merlot ($9.00 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Would like to start off unequivocally state that it is the best under $10 varietal Merlot we ever had! Overripe plums and red fruit on the nose and upfront. A lot more fruit and vanillic complexity across the palate, and a lingering finish. It was the perfect foil for broiled filet mignon in bacon rasher with OO and Morton rub, accompanied by salad with blue cheese dressing. Doesn't get any better on a Thursday night!
