Adelaide Hills, South Australia
from Burgundian clones
13.5% alcohol Paid $20 a bottle
color: dark purple/black, opaque; red purple on rim
nose: dark plums and cherries
palate: dark fruits, spices (light pepper)
almost syrah-like; probably quite extracted judging from the dark color and opacity but still smooth-tasting; also reminds of brandied cherries
tastes balanced and exhibits a long finish; viscous
Quite good if you like the highly extracted pinot noirs. A good wine for its type.
Had with lemon chicken with onion and mushrooms over rice pilaf.
I have one bottle left and may seek it out again.
