If you are old enough to remember the Allman Brothers, you'll get the title...if not just remember you'l be an old fogey one day too.

Peaches and nectarines are among the delights of summer, but what wine to go with them?

My suggestions are Verduzzo, Arnies or maybe a crisp, cool climate Gewurztraminer.

Any other suggestions?

I saw Duane Almond in concert in 1985. He was awesome, but I really think he was stoned.

Your choice of wines is good. I don't usually drink wine with fruit myself. The flavors, acids and sugars don't seem to go together well. But that's just me.

I like the Arneis suggestion and some might say Viognier. However, I would also suggest a Riesling Auslese. Some Kurt Darting wines from the Rheinpfalz have a peachy flavor and might go very nicely with the fruit. Darting wines tend to be on the sweet side.

Hey Bern, I think Duane died in 1971. Are you thinking of Greg Almond?

Yes! I always got them mixed up. Duane is the one who died young. Greg played keyboards.

We usually enjoy a big fruit tray on the patio with some Vinho Verde in the heat of the summer. Prosecco is nice, too.
