2001 Cookoothama, South Eastern Australia, Shiraz ($unk). Alcohol level 13.5%. Had this at a friend's house last night. She fixed a boneless roast leg of lamb, white and wild rice pilaf, and sauteed sliced beets. The three of us enjoyed both wine and food. It was a semi-large Shiraz from Oz, with either restrained or slightly fadding fruit upfront and on the tongue. Nice complexity with more than a modicum of dirt and chewy tannin. It finished well with a bite of lamb. Don't know what this one goes for, but it is in the $10-$12 genre. Lovely evening.
