From magnum a McLauren Vale 50% Cabernet, 33% Shiraz and 17% Merlot blend. Just a beautiful wine. Opaque black/ruby/purple. Very floral. Mature plum and dark fruit, spicy crushed blackberry with notes of cocoa. Elegant and full bodied with a weighty mid palate, the finish is long. A very balancd wine. Loved by all except the lonely scotch drinker(wine never touches his lips). 14%alc/vol. Purchased at a benifit auction.

Popped our last magnum last night here in OC entertaining neighbors. Paired with Filet Mignon and Ahi tuna steaks. The wine is really singing showing deeper blackberry and currant flavors and an additional hint of red berry. Also the cocoa flavor has transformed into a dark chocolate one. Wine and food were a hit.
As a side note I have to tell you that this has been one crazy vacation. I arrived here 9 days ago taking antibiotics for a frontal sinus infection.2 days later I have a small breakout of ringworm fungus on my right rib area and right hand. Ok, I get an antifungus cream. Then I'm bitten by an unknown insect which goes to cellulitis. Ok, I get an antibiotic topic cream. The boat engine starts to act funny and marine guy wants to pull the boat and won't get it back prior to end of vacaction. Forget that marine boy. I throw 2 fuel additives in and engine acts normal again...water in gas tank. Last Monday Eileen and I get in my suv to go to dinner...dead battery. Thank God she brought her car in case she had to return to Baltimore with a Mom issue. Dinner was very good, BTW, at an OC restaurant called Liquid Assets. Did I mention the bad sunburn? Only exposed for 40 minutes. It's believed increased sensitivity caused by the antibiotics....life is good? 1 week to go.

Gee! I've heard of being snake-bit, but that's crazy. Stay safe.

Sorry for your misfortunes Drew. Sounds a little like my last Thursday which was the day I was closing on the purchase of a condo in the afternoon and teaching my first class at Fayetteville Tech Community College in the evening. Among other things, the lender package didn't arrive until the last minute so I was running 30 minutes behind going to the bank for the cashier's check for down payment and closing costs, they forgot to give me the package with keys at closing so I had to arrange to pick them up Saturday at the condo office, my watch band which had been iffy all week, broke just before the evening class, and a downpour soaked me on the way from my car to the building where I was teaching. I arrived 20 minutes before class started but needed to be there 30 minutes early to avoid the storm.
