I am going to a dinner hosted by my sister-in-law who is an African Wild Game hunter. She spends at least a month per year in Africa. She is have a dinner party and is serving Groundhog this Saturday Night. This is not a joke. What kind of wine should I take to the party. I have never had groundhog, but she says that it is one of the more easily cooked and tasty of local wild animals. She does really know how to cook and knows her game. Does anyone have a suggestion? Please e-mail me at hcannon@adelphia.net.
Thanks in advance and I am serious. I have never eaten groundhog. I also do not know much about wine.
-Randy

Welcome to the Board Randy. Are you sure it isn't Wart Hog? That is an African game animal.

If that is it, I would match it with a fully bodied Pinot Noir from California or Oregon.

It is really is groundhog, a lot would depend on how it was being prepared. A medium weight Red Zinfandel would probably work. Consult your retailer for exact brands.

Thanks for your reply. It is the American ground hog that we will have for dinner. I really appreciate your help.
