I am looking to see if ANYONE in US that sells "Cantina Sociale Terlano Pinot Bianco Alto Adige Vorberg" I'd like a 1997 or 1996 but at this point any vintage would do... I'm looking for a retail store - not a restaurant...

I would go to your favorite wine shop in NYC (mine is Garnet) and ask them to look up the importer and/or wholesaler that carries the wine -- if it is carried at all. They can then check what's available and -- if you want case quantity -- perhaps order it for you, especially if its a distributor they work with regularly.

Try Crossroads (in the Village) as well.

Cheers,

Or, if you can wait till Labor Day, try Foodie's new East Village Store -- Is-Wine --on E. 5th between 2nd and 3rd Ave.!

(How's that for shameless promotion!)

Been meaning to ask you, are you in the newspaper biz?

Perhaps we could make "Is Wine" the official wine store of wines.com? Along with that designation, it would be nice of you to cough up a case of 97' Vietti for me and Scoop! Better sent Bucko something too, like a corkpuller or keychain with your stores' address & phone number on it....

A case of Vietti...? That would be great PR, Foodie! You'd have two major salesmen for sure!

As for your query, I somewhat resemble that remark ("Scoop" actually comes from the basketball court -- a patented shot of mine
-- but it ties in nicely with my writing). I'm a former full-time Int'l Biz journalist who jumped fence and is now the all-around communications/flak guy for an international organization (the EU) in NYC. And I write a monthly newsletter for them.

Cheers,

The EU, as in the Euro? Wow! We are in some company.

I am a freelance writer producing two monthly and two weekly columns for four separate papers, plus do mag articles when I can sell 'em. Got a book just listed in Amazon (Garlic, Wine and Olive Oil) to be out in August.

As for that case of Vietti: I already have you down for some freebies; what are you greedy???

A keychain for Bucko? I thought they took his car away from him long ago....

Yeah, Foodie, the Euro and other fun stuff, like bans on hormone-treated beef, complications with trade in bananas and even, every once in a while, wine (the EU is the world's largest producer and consumer of wine, and has the most complicated wine regulations, too -- AOC, baby!). It's even a a part of the notorious Common Agricultural Policy, although they've put through some rational reforms for the market in recent years.)

Sounds like you are doing the fun and important stuff. My better half writes on the food side of things; I assist on the wine part, whenever it comes into play.

Cheers,

Count me in whenever the Vietti is mentioned!

I'd love to patronize the new store. I'm spread too thin among all the others in the city, and would rather consolidate my (occasionally significant) purchasing efforts in one place!
