I talked myself into opening one of my 1989 Barbaresco's this week and whoah! I was expecting it to be good, but it even surpassed my expectations! We were having london broil over a friends house, and I wanted something a little stronger than normal. The 89' Tenuta Alberta produced by Contratto was not only alive and kickin, but it was almost too much of a wine for the heavily seasoned dish. I also have some Barolo's from the same year & producer in the cellar, and I can't even begin to imagine how much more powerful they must be!

To those of you still hanging onto your 89 Piedmonts, they're GREAT!! I suspect they will be holding up well for a long time to come. Enjoy!
