2000 Rucas Barolo

Strong nose of iodine... expecting it get worse with a bandage smell but it quickly begins to fade, leaving bruised red berries on a bed of oak. More red fruit and spices show upfront, still enough oak but not offensive, 13.5% alc/vol showing, too. Strong finish.... danged glass is too small, so's the bottle. Very nice juice. About $15, with homemade pizza. Must find more, as this was a lonely orphan with no siblings in sight.

Sounds more like a Nebbiolo d'Piemonte than a Barolo, considering the price.

Another tonight with mozzarela and chicken ravioli in an alfredo sauce. Oak undertone has faded to black, not to be seen again, leaving crushed red fruit and spices. A yummer and still criminally cheap.
