Hi Mark, and welcome to the Wine Board. Does your school have a library. Know your town does. There are excellent reference books of wine that will answer most of your questions.
Be advised that some of your questions have multiple answers. Some whites depend on whether the maker wants his wine to taste like grapes or wood. Other grapes can be made in so many styles, that no definitive answer can be given.

In many states, it is legal to drink underage, in the presence of your parents. If they live nearby, and are not opposed to drinking, they might enjoy having a few meals with you.
