2003 Feudo d'Elimi Grillo Sicilia (IGT)

Wow! What a great wine at a very reasonably price ($12 CAD).

I picked this up as it's supposed to be sort of a commercial equivalent to a wine kit I thought about making (much to the chagrin of all here, I'm sure). I used it to make dinner, as well as drink with dinner. I make what my girlfriend refers to as "wine chicken" - basically chicken breasts panfried in garlic, EVOO, some spices, and then pour on a mixture of low fat cream of mushroom soup (straight outta the can), about a glass of wine, and a bunch of spices (basil, garlic, mrs. dash, pepper) - mix all that up and pour on the chicken. Very yummy.

Anyhow, the wine...On the nose, floral and tropical fruit were prevalent. The taste was...super! Very zesty, but not overly acidic. Crisp and refreshing, flavours matched the nose, good finish. I just REALLY liked it.

Can't wait to finish the bottle!

Deputy, Do you know if they used any malo or oak with this wine? I'm not very familiar with this grape, so I don't know what the protocol is.

I've had this guy a number of times.
I'd bet my bottom dollar it's pure stainless, clean as a whistle. and there could be some malo, but not all the juice for sure.
(I might be wrong, but I'm certain!)

Grillo also is the primary grape in real Marsala...

Wish I had an answer for you, but I'd venture a sure guess there's no oak. Malo? No idea. Sorry!
