They need to make a message icon up there for "blissed-out grin."

This is the fourth bottle of a 6 pack I got for $19 a pop (I just searched to see what recent vintages are going for, and suffice it to say I won't be able to get more of this until Claire's done with med school...)

The last 3 bottles have varied from good to very good, though the most recent one before tonight was a bit long in the tooth.
Not so with this one...

This bottle is quite simply one of the best wines I have ever tasted.

Rich, complex, perfectly balanced, shows beautifully in both fruit and secondary flavors, nose-stuck-in-the-glass fragrance and equally impressive to the tongue. This is just stunning wine.

sigh.

Well, Winoweenie, it's hard to say what it was. I got them for $19, but I think it was after a distributor dump. Looks like they retailed around twice that normal retail. The real unfortunate thing is that recent vintages have been $70+ up to triple-digits.

Here's an old article from wineanorak on jermann's stuff.

For a final testament to the quality we're talking, I don't generally like much oak in my whites at all, and this dude had major oak (10 mo. Slovenian), and still knocked me out.
