I don't know what everything on the lable means, but it also says "Podere Le Caggiole" and "Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano", which I think means a "Great Wine from Monte-"... right?

It's very good, perfect with spinach pizza. Laura says it has a strong olive taste, which I only get a little of, more fruity and quite dry to me. I paid $20, which according to the other posts on these Montes sounds like a lot. 89 BK!

If I had a nickle for every TN that I've posted without a response, I could buy a case of Petrus.

Of course, that doesn't mean the TN isn't read. I read a lot of TNs and don't respond. But...I do put the ones that interest me on my "Lookout" sheet. I find all tasting notes valuable in some way or another.

And no, I've not ever seen or heard of this wine that I know of. The olive taste throws me off a bit and at $20 I don't know that I'll look for it. But I can never say never.

A case of Petrus...hmm... that's a whole lot of damn nickels!

As far as the olive taste, I don't really get that much out of it, unless I happento be eating something with olives or a lot of olive oil in it, then it seems to 'echo' that flavor a bit.

Don't get discouraged there Bern, as stated, all posts get read. In my case unless I can add something beneficial or knowledgeable to the post I abstain. I don't really drink that many Italian wines so I'm usually mum on them. WW

We just met Lucca Tiberini a couple of weeks ago and went CRAZY for his wines as they are the real deal, not trying to be Bordeaux or Cal/Australian in style. He is also a wonderfully friendly and funny guy AND he makes the best Vin Santo I have ever tasted.

We will have some soon on the West Coast.

This is NOT Montepulciano d'Abruzzo the value wine from the south. It is a DOCG blend of Sangiovese and Mammalo from the TOWN of Montepulciano in Toscana. That is a very good price for this wine.

Thanks for the elucidation, Roberto. The Italian wines are still very confusing to me even after an education seminar with Banfi a couple years ago. (I see that the woman who led our session has been promoted to vice president for wine education or something similar in wording at Banfi).

Well, those guys (Banfi) have got an agenda for sure and it ain't a broad knowledge of Italian wine culture. For starters, I am sure they pimped you on the Brachetto they market as opposed to one from an actual Brachetto specialist (in PIEMONTE), right?
