My aunt and uncle brought back from their trip to Italy a wonderful wine. This wine is red, sparkling, and sweet.I know this is not a great description, however I am a novice of novices. Does anyone know if I can buy this wine in the United States, Casa Gheller Fragolino Rosso? If anyone knows where I can find this wine I will greatly appreciate it.

I've been able to find sources for it in Europe, but none in the U.S. It appears Casa Gheller isn't imported here.

Where is Roberto? Is he still recovering from a trip to South America?

He should be able to answer this question, I'd think.

I tried wine-searcher.com and wineaccess.com and neither one gave me a hit when I asked for Casa Gheller.

I'm moving this to the Italian Thread. We have an Italian named Fabio, who lurks there, and is very helpful.

Fabio?

I just did a search looking for any posts from him in the Italian Wine forum and got 'null' results.

Try scimmiatinit. That's his moniker, but he signs his posts with Fabio. He has twenty posts, all under this thread. It must have all happened when you were away Mike.

Fragolino the real one is also know as clinton but it is an ILLEGAL wine made by selvatic grapes not allowed to produce wine according to the italian law because harmful (they say ?!) to humans.
Veneto producers still produce and hide it in the cellars for their special customers or people visitin' them...

The fragolino regularly sold is another thing is wine addicted with aromatic flavours of strawberry...

In this last case, it's more easy to find the Sandro Bottega Fragolino, maybe also in the States..

Ciao
Fabio

A Fragolino Grappa I had in Friuli Venezia Giulia smelled and tasted a lot like the American Concord grape, and that is what the producer told me it was.
