Now for the reds. Tasted about 16, and here are my four picks.

The first two are from Stephane Brocard
2008 Closerie des Alisiers Bourgogne - Labelled Pinot Noir, it had the required cherry nose, with the same taste along with a bit of barnyard. 13% ABV
2007 Closerie des Alisiers Marsannay Vieilles Vignes - Nice gaminess and cherry; same wit a wonderful finish. 13% ABV

2008 Parize Givry Rouge Vielles Vignes - Typically very well made Parize product. Got some raspberry along with the cherry; very smooth in the mouth with about a 3 lapper finish. 13% ABV

2007 Sorine & Fils Santenay Premiere Cru Beaurepaire - Probably the best of the lot, and tasted a few years too early. Got the cherry and red berries; some forest floor and a really nice, silky finish. 13% ABV

All should retail at about $20 or just a bit less, except the Sorine - maybe $25 to $27.

It's interesting that every one of the almost 30 wines tasted was labelled at 13% ABV.

Maybe the 13% is the new ubiquitous 12.5%.
