1999 Chalone, Pinot Noir, Estate, Chalone, $35, 6,400 cases. The wine has a complex nose of berries, French vanilla, and just a trace of mint. Very rich and elegant on the palate, with layers of ripe fruit, minerals, generous oak flavors and moderate tannins on the lingering finish.
