I went to a restaurant the other day and ordered a bottle of 2000 San Simeon Pinot Noir, Central Coast. This thing was so good, I absolutely fell in love with it.

Now the problem is I'm trying to look for this wine again at my local stores and can't seem to find it. I checked online and it appears that it's not not from the Central Coast, but from Monterey. However, from what I recall at the restaurant, it was a Central Coast wine.

Are these two wines different? Are they the same? I must absolutely find this wine again.

Okay, I'm an idiot. Maybe I've just ben on vacation too long.

The San Simeon is good, but the one that I MUST have again is the 2000 Domaine Drouhin, Oregon. I haven't been able to find it at Trader Joe's. Anyone know of another place where I can snag a bottle or three?

Hi Mogh, and welcome to the Wine Board. Go to www.wine-searcher.com and you will find many sources in and around LA that carry the 2000 Domaine Drouhin, Pinot Noir. It runs between $30-$35.

Mogh, if the Domaine Drouhin remains a favorite over time, you might be able to order a case directly from the winery since I believe California and Oregon are reciprocal shipping states. However, if you find a convenient retail source near you (sometimes the retailer can special order a wine that they don't normally carry), that saves on shipping costs and helps the local economy.

Domaine Drouhin is available at many, many wine shops, but definitely NOT at Trader Joes. Check with any decent wine shop, and you should find it. If not, send an email here - psere@drefusashby.com - and they can tell you exactly where in your immediate neighborhood you can locate some.

BTW, San Simeon is a second label of San Antonio Winery located right in the middle of Los Angeles. Look them up in the Yellow Pages and you can go directly to the winery and get that one. Monterey is in the Central Coast appellation, so they are the same.
