2002 Louis Jadot Bourgogne Pinot Noir $18.99 at the grocery store 12.5% alcohol by volume

Burgundy color--appears a brighter and lighter shade at the center
Red cherry nose. Sour cherry/cranberry flavors. Liked it better after a few minutes breathing time and even more on the second night. A fairly typical light-bodied basic red burgundy with a nice finish. It might be suitable for a dinner of Cornish hen or roast chicken with cranberry chutney or turkey breast with cranberry relish. I had it with tacos to use up some ground beef. It held up for three days in the refrigerator but was noticeably faded on the fourth and final day.

2004 Greg Norman Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County, California Estates $14.99 at the grocery store, 14.2% abv

Deep purple-red but not opaque; viscous, clinging to the sides of the glass
Nose of dark plum and plumskin. On the palate I tasted boysenberries, dark plum, cedar or some type of wood element and faint spices (white pepper or perhaps pink peppercorn). Although made in a new world style, I didn't hate it. In fact, I rather enjoyed it for its price point. I would rather drink a village Chambolle-Musigny or Volnay or a premier cru from Morey-St-Denis or Nuits-St-Georges but would probably be paying two or three times the price.
