Got this one as a Christmas present.

1998 Olivier Daubresse Selections, Beaune(Appellation Beaune Controlee), Burgundy red wine, Mis en Bouteille par Domaine Maillard Pere et Fils. This Burgundy is 100% Pinot.

Anyone have any thoughts, remembrances, or TN's for this baby?

Thanks!

Hey Dutton, by my calendar Christmas has yet to arrive. How do you get these presents so early?

Sorry, no information for you.

I was wondering that too, Foodie! Maybe he's looking under beds and in closets when his wife's out grocery-shopping.

No, my Cousin in Gaithersburg, Maryland (actually not that far from Drew's stomping grounds) had the wine shipped to me the other day from a store in McLean, VA.

The box didn't say DONT OPEN TILL XMAS. So, I opened it!

So that's you're story and you're stickin' to it, eh?
Don't blame you. I'd have done the same.

I just tasted a 98 Beaune this weekend (at a wine tasting) 1998 Christophe Violot-Guillemard Beaune Clos du Roy. Amazing bouquet, great complexity, but too young. My suggestion for your wine, don't open it for at least 3 years.

btw, the best wines tasted for their respective price categories were:

1998 Domaine Robert Arnoux Nuits St. Georges Les Proces ($50-$60)

and

1998 Domaine Jean Noel Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet, 'Millennium'(~$20)
note: somewhat spicy
