2005 BV Coastal Estates, Private Cellars, California, Pinot Noir ($8.99 NH Liquor Store). 13.5% Alcohol. Seems like this one has lost somewhat since the changes took place. However the price has gone down too. Still consider it a player in the $10 price point for Pinot. Gave very nice red fruit on the nose and upfront. Lost a little in the middle, but still nice, and the finish was short by not negligible.

Matched it with Coq Au Vin made with our '02 Morgon, the veggies with it, and a salad in vinaigrette. The wine went well with all, and would do it again.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the "Coastal" BV is all lower-end. Not a good indicator of BV's real releases. Their real Pinot still fetches around $20+ around these parts, the Coastal coming in around $10.
Would love to hear notes of their non-coastal wines.
I had an 01 Reserve Pinot from them not too long ago. Thought it was deep, somewhat gamey, and interesting-- but still not my style. Carneros just doesn't usually do it for me.

I wish you could try either the Casa Carneros Pinot or the Opitz (from grapes from Casa Carneros) but they are limited distribution.

VH you are right. This line has been the lower end of BV for some time, and has seem to have sunk lower since the friendly folks from Gallo have taken over.

ah... how long has Gallo owned BV?
I don't keep up with that sort of thing so much...

Any good Carneros Pinot that has a broader distribution?
I love pinot, and am always willing to try!

I tried Erath's 2005 today... quite nice for $15. light, lots of fruit... nothing profound, but still nice.
