A nice but muted nose with fresh red fruit, a hint of game and some earthiness. Seemed a hint forward to me, but my senses were total off as I was bbq'ng for about 12 people and never really got to drink this excaept for a sip. My impression was that it was pretty nice but it was $47.99 per btl,... will try again but not in front of a grill....a friend pulled this one despite everyone else asking for a zin....

I'll be interested to see if WOW has any thoughts, but it may have been in a muted stage or sleeping right now. Vosne-Romanee in a good vintage like '02 need at least 6 years of bottle age to really start showing well, and 10-15 years on the best ones. If you have any more, I'd suggest revisiting in around '09 or '10.

Ugh, BBQing for 12 -- I hate doing that. At least your temps were probably only in the 80s, though. Over 90, and that would make me miserable for the afternoon.

I've had good experiences in the past with the producer--Bocquenet. Chiefly, the Bocquenet Nuits St. Georges "Aux St.Julien" (2001 and another vintage--not sure which).
Liked it enough at a wine shop tasting to buy a few bottles. Someone else brought it to a "Pinot Noir Around the World" tasting in DC area which I attended and it was the Wine of the Night in the voting. Some of the 2002 Burgundies are starting to close down so it might show better in 3-4 years.

That may explain the muted nose and taste...hmmm...gotta raid the earlier stuff.

BTW, Sunday was definitely better than Saturday but it was still in the 90's and humid out here in the burbs of Beantown.....

We've been experiencing a cold snap....in the mid-90s' for the last 4 days. Checked with Popular Outfitters and they're all sold out of long-johns. WW

Nose is still muted but still very fresh, wine seems to have gained a little weight but a good amount of acidity keeps refreshing. While certainly it does not hurt to drink it now, wine has not gotten completely together so I won't revisit for a few years.
