Bunch of Dehlingers 01 were appropriate. In order opened the Estate, High Plains, and the Octogon. My-oh-my what a bunch of coconuts!All were at or close to the TOTG and were as intense and concentrated as a Calif P/N can get. Tho all were definately in the 90s' the hands-down favorite was the new bottling....the High Plains. Had the biggest and most massive nose I've had with a Calif Pinot. Even thot I detected some Rutherford Dust which, I Know, comes with the Cab section.Lovely bunch of juice.WW

Sounds like a good time! We've been wanting to try a Dehlinger, but their mailing list is only open for the Chardonnay for the next year or so. Reds aren't offered to new listees.

To compound our dismay, we're going to be out there touring and tasting in August, but I understand the tasting room is closed (not all that surprising when you think about it, as there is no wine to offer because it's already sold). It's too bad, as it would have been on our "must stop" list for sure.

Perhaps someday I'll get a taste, but until then I'll continue to live vicariously through your tasting notes!

Dan, I'd be interested in hearing what wineries are on your itinerary. I hope (not certain) to visit Sonoma in October with a couple days in San Francisco and 2-3 days on Monterey Peninsula. Hope to visit Gary Farrell, Selby and a number of Russian River Valley wineries that produce Pinot Noirs.

Jane, we're still developing the itinerary, though as you might have guessed, it'll be Pinot-centric. That means a lot of Sonoma Coast, RRV, and Alex Valley. Selby is certainly on the list. I'd love suggestions from folks, so feel free to chime in, everyone!

That having been said, wine will take a back seat during some of the vacation. We've got a wedding to attend on one of the days, we plan to explore SF (since I've never been there), and we're going to a concert out there one evening, as well. When the trip looms closer, I'll get the itinerary fleshed out and let you know. Of course, I'll also post a summary upon our return.
