A baby by any standards but definately a 15-pounder. Medium-deep ruby. Nose with some red and black fruits and earth. Spices showed up after an hour in the glass. All come across on the palate with blue-berries dominating the black fruits and sour cherries the red. A solid note of butter-scotch toffee is also evident. Soft entry. A weighty center and a neat 4+ lapper finish. Has some silky tannins that need resolving. Will improve for the next 4-6. A killer bottle of juice. 90/92 32 by the box. 14.7% alc. WW

Nice notes, WW, and thanks. Hawks View is a great site in the Chehalem AVA -- really pretty views of Mt. Hood -- and the Muirfield Vineyard Block is exclusive to Siduri. In general, they provide fruit for several Willamette folks as part of their blends, and we've tasted single vineyard Hawks View wines from August Cellars and Anne Amie, though our favorite has been the one from ADEA, which we bought last summer when out there. Generally excellent quality. I've not had the pleasure of this Siduri, unfortunately. We can find it locally, so I'll grab one the next time out based upon your rec. Again, thanks for the great notes.

Had for lunch today and has progressed as expected. More nose, enhanced flavors, and an expanding finish projects well for this lovely bottling. No change in scoring yet. Close but no Bannana. WW

Since the original post, we indeed did get the chance to try it, when we visited Siduri in August. We tried and bought the '03 and the '04, actually slightly preferring the more silky and subtle '04 (which was probably a better year in Oregon, actually). Agree with your notes on this '03, and particularly noticed the spicy note you mentioned. Also agree with it needing another year or two to resolve the tannins, but it projects as a wonderful wine. Thanks for the original rec!
