I had a fantastic dinner last night. Went to Jezebel Restaurant on Congress Ave in Austin. Its the best restaurant in town. I had a bottle of the 2006 Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella paired with Ossobuco infused in a pomegranite reduction sauce. If epicurious has a recipe for this, try it out. Its a dinner worthy of long term memory.

No Ossobuco for me, but I just adore that wine. Also the Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre. ooh. I'm going to the store this weekend for some ripassa.

It'll be interesting to see how future vintages of Zenato wines fare. Sergio Zenato was very much the heart and soul of the winery and his death last year will certainly have an impact on the direction of the winery.

Ripasso Valpolicella is either among the most underrated--or underknown--wines in the U.S. wine world. Haven't had the Zenato in a long time, but have had many from small producers that usually don't make it to this side of the universe.

On the other hand, I prepare a lot of osso buco at home...
