2004 Chateau Duhart Milon

needed a couple of hours in the glass to come around. Perfect little bordeaux. Nose is elegant but powerful and interesting at the same time. Slightly oakier than I'd like at this point in time but the wine has plenty in it to absorb it in a few years. Big bold flavors, red and blue berries, medium plus finish but nicely balanced. Hed this from a much travelled 375mL bottle.

Has this xformed into any tertiaries yet cuz of it's minuscule size? I've always thought that 375's could be a good early gauge of 750's progress, maybe potential is a better word... a sneak preview sort of.

I've read many articles on that topic recently (not much else to do at an airport really [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img] ). I've always thought that 375's aged sooner but there have been some that seem to negate that thought. Trials though fraught with inconsistencies were tried from double mag on down to 375 for much older wines (89, 70's 60's) and it was not conclusive (though it tended that the mags appeared to work "best", the problem with many of these tests (and it was not a controlled experiement) was that it asked the consumer which wines they liked best....not which wines have advanced the least or the most. Having said that not sure that even that is testable.....

Having said that I suspect that for a decent vintage of bordeaux, it will take more than a few years to show the difference between a 375 and a 750. The 04's appear to be pretty sturdy. Perhaps a 10 year mark review will show more difference.
