Unfortunately corked. The nose was not too bad (I was hoping that it wold blow off) but the wine on taste was undoubtedly corked. Too bad as the wine had a great texture, an undoubtely fine wine if it was in good shape.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I have probably a half case left of the 2000. It showed real promise young so I've been patiently waiting. I think I'll have to wait some more as most of the 00's I've tasted seem to be evolving slowly. Our preference is for ~ 12 - 15 yrs when the wine cooperates. I think the Cantemerle will survive. Well made for the price.

Have you ever successfully done the polyethylene trick to a corked bottle? I would have tried with this one.

okay, the results. It works! The 96 Cantemerle must have been an impressive wine when there is no fault. When the wine was tasted, some of the fruit came back and almost all of the cork taint was taken away (still some hints of it). But at the end of the day, the wine was uninteresting but drinkable bottle. I guess that is much like others that have tried this. Only thing is that the plastic sheet did not smell corked but it did not smell good.
