1998 Chateau Puy-Blanquet, St Emilion Grand Cru ($16 Pops). Alcohol level 12.5%. This is one of two Bordeaux under $20 (the other being Les Fiefs de Lagrange) that I feel we could buy in any vintage and lay down until it is eight or nine years old.

Popped this one tonight with rib eyes grilled over charcoal and hickory chips, and salad in blue cheese dressing. The wine was delightful. Just a trace of fruit upfront, but a very nice elixir across the palate, with a finish that rang bells for a while. We will do it again and again, Lord willing.
