This past summer, I went through the wine cellar and opened a lot of my older wines at a tasting at my vineyard back in July. The list included but was not limited to:

1990 Chateau La Louviere
1981 Gruaud Larose
1990 Chatueau Tayac Prestige Label
1989 Gruaud Larose
1990 Mouton Rothschild
1993 Haut Brion
1993 Duhart- Milon
1982 Lango Barton
... and others!

Every single one of these wines tasted either at peak or approaching peak, not a disappointment among them. The 90 La Louviere was the starter wine... followed by the 81 Gruaud Larose with which a roast beef dinner with potatoes and carrots was served. I must say boys... that the 81 Gruaud Larose blew everyone away... I enjoyed it more than the Mouton... and the Haut Brion! <could have been the combo with the food perhaps? >

Anyways... I have since been buying more Gruaud Larose, and I suggest if anyone has the chance to try one of their older wines... don't pass it up... they are incredible!

81 Gruaud Larose -- I bet that raised a few eyebrows!
